Key to Learning can be used in any Early Years setting to complement, extend, enrich and systematise existing good practice The teacher’s book contains an introduction to the theoretical underpinnings of the Vygotskian approach to early years, 36 teaching sessions for practitioners to try out with their children and 24 activities for children to carry out with parents at home. It has now been introduced successfully in a wide variety of different pre-school and school settings, both in England and abroad. Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Story Grammar is a unique, innovative programme promoting the love of story, ownership of story language and a profound understanding of story structure. It empowers teachers, parents and Early Years professionals by providing clear guidance in the use of a range of powerful external mediators, visual reminders and visual models to ‘make things visible’.
For younger children the biggest difficulty is holding the structure of the story in mind. A visual model is a plan for retelling a story. When a child knows the structure of a story he/she is empowered to become very active in retelling it. The aim is for teacher to support the children in recreating teacher generated visual models at first and then, gradually, to enable them to create their own visual models and their own stories.
These straightforward, enjoyable and effective strategies allow children to:

The CD-ROM has all the files necessary to produce the resources for ten children to be actively engaged in these sessions.
Simply identify the activity you wish to introduce to your children, print it and where necessary cut out the appropriate shapes and/or pictures.
